2011 Firebird

By Pramod Dadhich

The Firebird is back for 2011, which stands to reason as the Camaro has also taken a huge step in the market since they are both so similar it is obvious that they will both do equally as well in the market and with consumers. For those that are die hard Firebird fans, the 2011 Firebird is not going to disappoint even the hardest to please fan. There are two models available. One model is based off of the 1979 Firebird model, while the other is based off of the 1970 Firebird model. Most consumers seem to be leaning towards the 1979 Firebird model just because it is reminiscent of those ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ days when everyone wanted a Firebird.

Since Pontiac is a thing of the past as GM has decided to phase the brand out by the end of 2010, the Firebird is being designed by the ASC, which is in a sort of partnership with General Motors. However, most people are unclear as to whether the car will be available to consumers or if it is just a hope filled dream for muscle car lovers everywhere and a way for designers to pass their time. However, ASC has also developed many other cars that GM has put into production, so there is hope that this car will be the same. The 2011 Firebird is basically taking a Camaro and making a few changes to give it a totally new look, which means that GM would not have to redesign everything as it could easily be done with machinery that they have now, a huge plus that will be in the direction of the 2011 Pontiac Firebird being produced for consumers.

Taking the Camaro models, the Firebird will have a different set of headlights, grill inserts that are different, and a restyle apron. The car will also sport a different back end that will include distinctive tail lights, a spoiler, and special exhaust pipes. The alloy wheels will also have a unique design. Details of the interior have yet to be released, however, most people believe that there will only be a few minor changes when compared to the Camaro, as the exterior is where more attention is going to be given.

Performance wise, it is thought that the Firebird will be a V6 engine that will produce around 240 horsepower. The Trans Am model will be equipped with a V8 engine that will produce around 400 horsepower. However, GM has not commented on anything that would put these rumors to rest or to acknowledge truth in the rumors. One thing is for certain, consumers are eagerly awaiting whether the Firebird will come out of retirement for what many believe will be a great come back.

By John C Arkinn

The global warming called for an environmentally friendly means of transportation, the electric car. Because a plug-in battery automobile powers an electric car, it has alleviated pollution “by having zero tail pipe emissions.” Today, the number of individuals getting an electric car is rising. This can be attributed to the fact that electric cars are less dependent on oil, and anyone who has it can definitely ditch the increasing prices of gasoline.

True, electric cars are trending upward. If you have been planning to go with the trend, here is a list of electric cars for 2011, as reported by car manufacturers, news sites, and blogs.

1. Chevrolet Volt

A real power, this electric car can run for up to 40 miles on a single overnight charge. But it can even go more! With a small gasoline engine, Chevy Volt can go for another 300 miles. The car does excellently with two 7″ diagonal LCD touch screens that display speed and battery power, Bluetooth wireless technology for your phone to stream music in your phone to the stereo, rear camera and park assist package, pedestrian-friendly alert, etc.

Automotive Industry News That Makes a Point

By Ben Pate

While the average person may not have much interest in automotive industry news, a lot of useful information can be obtained. This would include the interesting reasoning behind why you can’t always find the car you want at a dealership. Many consultants push for dealers to listen to the customers and their needs. Though this suggestion would work when you look at it theoretically, there are some things that are stopping it from happening.

It is not actually the dealers that are dropping the ball most of the time; it’s the automakers themselves. They may not ship what has been requested by the dealers, instead shipping the vehicle they want. This leaves the dealers with an inventory that isn’t what they requested or what their customers want.

This unfortunate circumstance leaves the dealer with the choice of resorting to hard sell tactics or letting the vehicles sit around forever. Those hard to sell cars can continue to sit for a while, but ultimately they will create problems for the dealer, as no customer may really want to buy them. You either hope they have the vehicle you want or sometimes settling on another choice.

Continued build up of those vehicles can leave the dealer with absolutely no cars that will fit their customers’ needs or wants. You will definitely want to figure this in when you head into that local dealership and don’t see a car you want.

Those hard to sell vehicles that continue to sit around are called a “brown banana”, because it’s become overripe and the value has been going down as it continues to sit around. At this point what can a dealer really do about that problem? Continue Reading

First and foremost, why do people want to feature their cars to the public? Is it simply to show it off? The answer is yes & no. Many car tuning companies will want to show off their cars to get noticed, to promote their company and to get business. However, reason varies for the individual owners, well some may say “show-off” but most I feel (just like me) is that – after all these hard work, creativity, money spend on the your car, you would want to ensure that all these are paid off, that people actually appreciate your work and to prove that it’s worth the effort you put in and ultimately you get documentation of your hard work before you finally sell your car.
